Effective communication is where it all starts

In-cab technology has greatly enhanced our ability to communicate with our drivers throughout our Canadian and U.S service area. They can contact us when there is trouble on the road and we can react quickly whether it is a health or equipment safety issue. It has greatly enhanced the quality of our service, safety of the people we share the roads with and our driving staff.

Regular training and strong processes are foundational elements

You can’t run a safe operation and provide a consistent quality service without a stringent and detailed maintenance program. That’s why we have a 5 bay facility on site to ensure our equipment is in top condition and our service manager can directly oversee every step of the program. Our 24/7 roadside assistance program covers our requirements for unforeseen maintenance issues on the road.

In the early days of trucking it was a bit of a free for all. The equipment went on the road when it shouldn’t, drivers were over extended and many lacked proper training. The industry has been thorough and persistent at refining the regulations needed to run our roads safely… and so have we.

It is our responsibility to keep our drivers safe from harm and our customers’ product secure and delivered on schedule. It’s a responsibility we take seriously and our industry leading CVOR rating is a testament to our diligence in this area.

Farming and trucking

Our head office location in Brantford, Ontario keeps us close to the farming communities of Southern Ontario. Many of our produce customers are in our area and historically the local farms were a popular source for our drivers. Many started out driving commercial farm equipment and that training served as a great stepping stone to being a professional highway driver.

Our source for great drivers has evolved from the early days, we have a wider reach and access a larger demographic. Still, our philosophy of hiring hasn’t really changed at all. We interview each new hire carefully, ensuring they have the experience, clean record and caring attitude that fits our culture and benefits our company. After all, our drivers are in front of our customers daily and are ambassadors of the BTC Express brand.
